Eliminate MS Access 2007 startup errors
By admin on Feb 4, 2010 in FAQ
Question: when I attempt to open VMS using MS Access 2007 I get error messages:

In order to use VMS with MS Access 2007 there are two things you must do:
1) Enable macros and
2) Add the path C:\VMS to the Trust Centre Locations.
Here is how:
Click the start button and open MS Access 2007

Click the “Office” button and then ”Options”:

Click “Macro Settings” and click the radio button “Enable All Macros” and click “OK” button:

Click “Trusted Locations” then “Add New Location” button and enter the full path: C:\VMS (also select the checkbox “Subfolders of this location are also trusted) and click “OK” button:

You can see that the path to VMS was added to the “Trusted Locations”:

Click “OK” button then the “OK” button again. Close MS Access then try opening VMS again.

Hi,
I am trying to install this database on 2007. I followed the instructions that you posted but I get the following error:
You do not have the necessary permissions to use the object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you. (Error 3033)
Thanks a lot!

Hi Alaena,
I have only seen this error when you try to open the vms.mdb file directly by either double clicking on it or pressing enter. You will need to use a modify version of the VMS2003 shortcut to point to MS-Access 2007 rather than the MS Access 2003. The Target of VMS2003 is as follows:
“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSACCESS.EXE” C:\VMS\vms.mdb /wrkgrp C:\VMS\vms.mdw /user Cedrick /Pwd /excl
You will probably just need to change “OFFICE11″ to “OFFICE12″ and it will probably work. In other words point to the folder where MS Access 2007 executable (MSACCESS.EXE) is .

We are reviewing the program to see if it is something that we can use for our VC. I am very impressed with it. I was just wondering if there was anyway that it captures demographics of volunteers for reporting purposes only.

Only demographics are on address, phone number, i.e., list volunteers by the first 3 letters of Postal Code or by area code or by exchange number of telephone number.

Hello,
I have just installed VMS on Access 2007 and followed the instructions to open it. Whenever I opened the file, Access would stop responding. I deleted the file and then reinstalled it, and still have the same issues. Any advice?
Thanks!

Nevermind…the issue was with my computer, not your software. I have it running, its great..thank you! Could you please tell me how to get the source-code for it?
Thanks,
Alaena
